Practice Groups

Swimmers must practice with their assigned training groups.  This is in the best interest of the swimmers.  Swimmers may only move up to the next group with the permission of the head coaches. There are four (4) practice groups: Maroon, White, Red, & Silver. Coaches have the right to move swimmers to a different practice group at any time over the course of the season.

Maroon

The maroon group is our pre-team. "Pre-Team" is for beginner level swimmers, age 10 and younger, who can swim, but are not ready for the competitive atmosphere of the team.  Pre-Team is not swim lessons, but a focus on specific drills to improve all four strokes.  This group will not compete in dual meets but are encouraged to sign up for three or four invitational meets that ABAC participates in each season.

Requirements: Swimmers must be able to complete three - four strong laps of freestyle and be familiar with the other strokes.  Swimmers will work on specific drills to build strength and become legal in all four strokes.

White

This swimming group will focus on developing technical swimming skills.  We will stress fundamental skills in all four strokes, starts and turns, and fun!  The White Group swimmers are members of the competitive team and will compete in dual meets.

Red

These swimmers will focus on the development of technical swimming skills along with interval training. We will stress fundamental skills in all four strokes, starts, turns, and fun!  Swimmers are highly encouraged to attend more than two practices a week.  Our emphasis will be on maintaining good technique during interval sets. Swimmers will be educated on goal setting and race planning.

Silver

This is the most advanced training level at ABAC.  The Silver Group consists of all High School as well as younger swimmers who have the ability and dedication to participate in more serious and intense training.  Swimmers are encouraged to attend practices as often as possible. Swimmers must be able to complete silver level intervals and show consistency during practices.  All silver swimmers are expected to be good role models for younger swimmers.
