Amy Spooner - Head Boys Coach
Amy has coached with ABAC for 5 seasons and
grew up swimming for the Dolphins(she still holds a few records). She was
a competitive swimmer for 16 years. Coach Amy won the ABAC Pat McManus
Memorial Award in 1998, and was a High School All American swimmer for Upper
Dublin High School. Amy swam for
the University of Delaware where she graduated with a degree in Elementary
Education. She was the 2001-2002 University of Delaware Women's Swim Team
Captain and in 2002 she won a Colonial Athletic Association Scholar
Athlete Award. Amy enjoys the challenges and rewards of coaching and
teaching. During the summer Amy is the head coach of the Crestmont
Clippers Swim Team where she has coached for 7 years.
Marie Labosky - Head Girls Coach
This will be Marie's third season with ABAC. Marie swam for Notre Dame and
graduated with a degree in American Studies. Coach Marie qualified for
the US Olympic Trials in 2000, 2004, & 2008. In addition, Marie qualified for the NCAA's in 2001, 2002, 2003, Honorable Mention All-American 2001, Big East
Champion - 200 Individual Medley(2001) and 400 Individual Medley(2003),
was undefeated in all individual events in her prep career and an 11-time
All-American in individual and relay events. Marie was named the
Philadelphia Area High School Swimmer of the Year by the Philadelphia
Inquirer in 2000. In addition to ABAC, Marie coaches and gives swim
lessons at GAAC.
Matt McCaffrey - Assistant Coach
Matt grew up swimming for Dolphins and has coached for the past six
seasons. Coach Matt was also a star swimmer for Abington High School. Matt
graduated from St. Joseph's University with a degree in English. Matt has
coached the summer swim program at the Crestmont Pool of Abington Township
for the past 5 years, as well as PCAC for the past 3 years. We are pleased
that Matt has taken on the challenge of transitioning from college to the
work world, and still finds time to coach the ABAC team.
Michele Spooner - Assistant Coach
Michele also grew up swimming for the Dolphins and has coached with ABAC for
three seasons. Shelly was also a swimmer for Upper Dublin High School and
a member of their state championship team in 1994 and 1995. "Shelly"
graduated from Lafayette College and the Pennsylvania College of
Optometry. Dr./Coach Michele is a practicing eye doctor in Huntington
Valley.
Reggie Shearer- Assistant Coach
ABAC welcomes Reggie Shearer to his first year with the club. Reggie has
been a swimmer for 12 years including 4 years at West Chester University.
In addition to PSAC Rookie of the Year 2003 and PSAC Swimmer of the year
in 2004, 2005 and 2006, Reggie was Team Captain his senior year. Reggie's
awards include 22 All American Honors, 2 time National Champion (200 and
400 free relays) as well as PSAC 50 free record holder. As an instructor,
Reggie has 5 years experience at the West Chester University Swim Lessons
Program. Reggie looks forward to getting to work with all of the ABAC
swimmers this season!
